How can beta blockers be used to treat asthma?

Beta blockers are Beta-adrenergic blocking agents used to treat a wide range of medical problems, including asthma. Beta blockers function by suppressing the effects of the hormone adrenaline and other related chemicals, and helping the respiration system of the body to relax. The new generation of beta blockers is called cardio selective beta blockers, since they're capable of blocking any beta receptor. While the first generation of beta blockers was notorious for causing hard attacks of asthma now and then, the new beta blockers are now considered safe for use by asthma patients. They are not harmful, and may only cause unintended side-effects for patients with very serious cases of asthma. However, it is not recommended for long-term use yet.

An added bonus of using beta  blockers is that they can be safely used by asthma patients with heart problems. Beta blockers have certain qualities that can help to offer added protection against cardiac diseases, while making their respiratory pathways better and safer. However, be sure to get an opinion from your physician if you are planning to start using beta blockers, since it may not be suitable for your case of asthma. You may even consider visiting multiple doctors for their verdicts before making your move.
