What is cardiac asthma?

Cardiac asthma is not the conventional asthma that we hear of everyday. It is used to identify the wheezing sounds when a person suffers from a heart failure. Thus, the more serious the wheezing becomes the more critical cardiac asthma actually is. It is important to note the difference between cardiac asthma and the normal asthma we know of as their treatments are different. Cardiac asthma is caused by an abrupt blockage of the pulmonary circulation system.

During a heart attack, fluid and other substances congest the airways inside the lungs thus making it hard to breathe. This congestion gives rise to the symptoms which are found in asthmatic patients for example, coughing and wheezing. However as this condition worsens the breathing becomes more and more difficult. This is because blood circulation in the lungs becomes reduced and, at one point, to such a degree that it results in a heart failure.

Treatment of this illness involves controlling coughing at night and using proper medication which reduces the congestion caused by the fluids in the air passages in the lungs.
