What can be done to Control Asthma during Exercise?

Some people suffer from asthma attacks during exercise sessions or while running. Although this was initially considered to be a separate form of asthma, it is now believed that this is usual when asthmatics undergo a lot of exertion.  However, one should also remember that some types of exercise are worse than others. For instance running is much worse than swimming, which is considered to be one of the best exercise routines for asthmatics. Running causes chest tightness. Jogging indoors on a treadmill can be categorized as an exercise routine which falls in between the two mentioned above.

To control asthma triggered by exercise, people should take up swimming as a regular exercise rather than running. Using a “preventer” treatment or avoiding the causes all together can be a good method of controlling asthma. Using inhalers properly and promptly when there is an attack can be a useful strategy to reduce exercise-induced asthma.

Even if you exercise, it is better to do so for short intervals of time rather than prolonged strenuous sessions. This way asthma triggered by exercise can be controlled and prevented from turning into any form of asthma attack.
