Are there any Permanent Cure for Asthma? |
Asthma is a lung disease that inflames and narrows down airways. The inflammation makes the airways swollen and sensitive, making them reactive to some substances that are inhaled in. The reaction causes tightening of the muscles, making the airways narrower. As a result, the flow of air through the lungs is reduced. Asthma produces a number of symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and shortness in breath. Serious worsening of these symptoms can lead to an asthma attack. A number of medications and treatment methods are available that allow you to keep your asthma under control. However, at present, there is no permanent cure for asthma: asthma is still an incurable disease. However, with the help of right medications and certain precautions, asthma symptoms can be prevented from worsening. For instance, inhaled corticosteroids allow long-term control of asthma by reducing the inflammation of the airways. This keeps the airways in a healthy condition, and promotes easy breathing. This shows that asthma patient should regularly take medications, though the medications cannot cure asthma altogether. On the other hand, some people prefer to not take medications, especially when the asthma symptoms do not flare up. However, this is dangerous since regular swelling of the airways will damage their surface layers eventually. |
