Singulair Oral for Treatment of Asthma

Singulair oral is also referred to as monetelukast oral and is used as a long term medication in the treatment of asthma as a maintenance treatment. This is a medication that is used for other treatments, such as allergic rhinitis, which is hay fever or common allergies.

This is a medication that is taken once or twice a day by mouth and is one of the asthma medications that is used to prevent asthma that is brought on by exercise. The dosage that is taken prior to exercise should be taken approximately two hours prior and it should not be an extra dosage, but a regularly scheduled one. Singular oral is not one of the fast acting medications that is taken for asthmatic attacks, this is a long acting medication and these type of attacks require the use of an inhaler.

Singular oral is not recommended for use in asthmatics that are under 15 years of age and is not recommended for women that are breast feeding.
