What are the common treatments for occupational asthma?

Avoiding the substance that causes occupational asthma attacks is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a way to deal with the issue. People tend to believe that a change of occupation may help to solve the problem, but that does not always work.

A cooperative employer would be willing to help your work experience better by removing or diminishing the sources of the allergens which trigger your asthma attacks from your work environment, by providing you with protective gear or medications, or by relocating you within the workplace. Resignation from a job is not at all advisable until all other options have been explored.

Asthma medication comes in long-term and short-term variants. The long-term controller medications are used to keep your respiratory pathways open and to lessen the swelling in your lungs which lie at the root of all asthma attacks. They can be taken regardless of the occurrence of the symptoms. On the other hand, the short-term rescue medications are to be taken only in the event of an asthma attack or a potential asthma attack. They can also be taken to neutralize infections in your respiratory system.
