How do I prevent Wheezing after Working Out? |
The airways, also known as “bronchioles”, of people with asthma become partially or completely blocked. When air passes through these blocked air ways, the air makes a whistling sound. This is known as “wheezing”. Wheezing is one of the most common asthma symptoms. However, the condition can worsen to the point where it becomes extremely difficult for one to breathe. Any form of vigorous physical activity, such as running and weight-lifting, causes of the muscles around the airways. This condition is known as “bronchospasm”. This makes it even more difficult for air to pass through the airways, leading to sever wheezing. The condition gets even worse if the exercise is done out in a cold weather. However, wheezing after work-outs can be prevented by choosing: 1. Right Treatment: A doctor must be consulted to find the combination of drugs that will help prevent wheezing after work out. This type of medication works best if used before the asthma symptoms get worse. Examples of asthma drugs include inhaled corticosteroids, mast cell stabilizers, the leukotriene modifier drugs, and IgE blockers. 2. Right Exercise: The ideal exercise is one that can be performed 4-5 days per week, 30 minutes per day. That’s why a person with asthma should go for mild exercises such as swimming and wrestling that can be done in several short periods. |
